Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read and published.
Treasurer’s Report:
Our current balance is $ 2,053.78; Karla had a copy of BCHW ax return for anyone who was interested to review
Director’s Report:
Jackie will be attending the annual BCHW conference. She suggested to any of the old outgoing officers or new incoming officers that it would be very beneficial to attend. There is a lot of information at the conference, to much for her to cover all of it. The conference will be December 4th and 5th at the fairgrounds in Ellensburg.
TRAIL BOSS REPORT:
Dennis reported that all of the trails are very wet and muddy. The consensus of the members is that on one has been riding.
OLD BUSINESS:
There was much discussion on weather or not to disband the Willapa Hills Chapter. Jackie, reminded everyone to look at the bigger picture before making a final decision. The chapter of BCHW is not intended to be just a riding club we actually have a purpose.
THE PURPOSE OF BACKCOUNTRY HORSEMEN:
ü Unite horsemen as a viable contracting group to work with governmental agencies to achieve the goals and objective of the Backcountry Horsemen of Washington .
ü Encourage responsible citizen involvement in governmental actions effecting public lands.
ü Oppose unjustified restrictions and closure to horse-use, on public lands.
ü Educate and inform horsemen and others interested in or affected by policies and programs of the Backcountry Horsemen of Washington , about the impact of horse use on backcountry lands, especially fragile areas.
ü Demonstrate that horsemen are citizens concerned about protecting the environment, as well as sustaining economic equilibrium of the community and country.
She reminded us that if we are not out there as a group/club working together in a common goal/direction the out come could be no trails at all for riding and closed public lands. She said she would get more information on the procedures for spending of the money that we earn and fund raising expenses.
NEW BUSINESS:
The Christmas party is no issue with regards to spending the money we have earned on it. Judy and David extended the invitation to have the Christmas party at their house again this year. It was decided the party will be on the 19th at 6:30. There will be a gift exchange with a limit of $ 10.00 for the gifts. Jackie will bring oysters and Karla will provide the crab. All members attending will bring a pot luck dish as well. It was voted that there be a door prize. The purchase of that prize having a limit of $ 50.00.
The owners of the oxbow camp property have brought in a load of gravel, we need to get together and spread it.

BCH JUNE 8, 2009 Meeting Minutes
President Heather called meeting to order at 7:07
Was not present
No report from our director, she is attending a conference/meeting in Ellensburg the 13th
New gate at the camp looks good. Dennis stated that he would call members one evening after work in the next week or so, to try and make the crossing better on the top trial. Doesn’t think it will take much. We need to have volunteers to mow the field at the camp.
Sani-can has been cleaned
There was a vote to buy Chili already in the cans. Thank you David for offering to make it, but those at the meeting felt it would be cheaper to just buy it already made.
We have planned to have a members ride and BBQ on Sunday after our prize ride.
Jackie has kittens to give away. (They attended the meeting)
Attendance was very light; we had three officers and three members in attendance.
Heather adjourned the meeting at 7:40

Treasurer’s report: Karla reported that the club currently has $ 1,822.00 in our bank account. Karla presented the receipt for the $50.00 land donation along with a very nice Thank you note from Whistler Canyon
Jackie gave the director’s report; the 4th annual gravel haul at Capital forest appeared to be a success. We need to keep a better log of our volunteer hours.
Trail Boss Report: Oxbow trail is clean and in good shape. Jewell reported that the OET was planning on helping with the trail clean at Tunerville on May 16th. The Beaver pond is bad at Tunerville but the quads have made detours. The actual camp is in bad shape garbage cans over turned and some trees across picnic tables. The out house needs to be moved as well.
DNR wants us to keep track of our volunteer hours as well. We need to make sure that we have a sign-up sheet at all of our future work parties to help with tracking the volunteer hours.
The suggestion was made to put in an additional short gate at the Oxbow camp site, to help improve the entrance, with out having to do allot of extra work. A motion was made and seconded to add an additional short gate to the entrance. Karla volunteered to get the gate.
There was some discussion about clearing a new trail at the oxbow.
Laurie our guest from the Grays Harbor Chapter informed everyone that there was going to be a National Board Meeting held on April 22-25 at Fort Warden (about three hours from us) and that this meeting is being held for the first time ever in Washington State .
